A welcoming and engaging environment for research
Fermilab is committed to providing a seamless and enriching experience for everyone collaborating with the laboratory. Whether you are a user, affiliate, scientist emeritus, retired guest, student, or any other representative involved in research, your primary liaison with Fermilab is the Users and Affiliate Engagement Office. UAEO supports the community by offering information and facilitating access to resources such as campus access, visa assistance, housing, quality of life activities and agreements. Their efforts aim to foster a welcoming and engaging environment, contributing to Fermilab’s reputation as a world-class institution.
Facilities for physics research
Fermilab’s particle accelerators play a crucial role in advancing fundamental physics, innovating accelerator science, and developing accelerator-based applications. The main accelerator complex includes four particle accelerators and storage rings. The Main Injector generates the world’s most powerful high-energy neutrino beam and supplies proton beams for various experiments, and research and development programs.
A key upgrade to the Fermilab accelerator complex is the Proton Improvement Plan II, or PIP-II, designed to maximize Fermilab’s scientific potential by adding a unique front section to the lab’s accelerator chain.

Physics Advisory Committee
The Physics Advisory Committee, or PAC, is composed of esteemed members from the particle physics community, appointed by the Fermilab Director. The committee provides guidance on the experimental program, reviewing proposals for new experiments at Fermilab and advising the director on optimizing the ongoing program and planning for future initiatives.
